The Human Microbiome

The microbiome is a complex ecosystem of microorganisms that live in and on your body. The human gut contains trillions upon trillions of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other microscopic life forms. These organisms help to break down food, produce vitamins and hormones, and are involved in digestion.

Your microbiome also influences the way you feel physically. Certain types of bacteria can make you more prone to infections or allergies. Some strains may even be linked with certain mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety disorders, OCD and schizophrenia.

The strength and balance of beneficial and harmful bacteria can be affected by your diet, antibiotics, stress, age, gender, weight and more. The composition of your microbiome can also vary from one part of your body to another.

As you can see, the microbiome is a key factor in your own natural medicine. The key to helping your microbiome thrive is an unending amount of bacteria.

How To Make Kefir:

Place 1/2 cup of raw organic almonds into your food processor and process until they form a paste. You may need to do this in two or three batches.

Combine the kefir you have just made with the kefir milk that has been left to sit at room temperature for 1 hour. Now, combine the paste you have made with one cup of the kefir mixture.

You can dilute it with additional kefir if you need to. Drink two cups of this mixture in one go, three times per day.

If you don’t like the taste of the kefir mixture, you can add more milk or water to it to make it taste better. You can also add some fruit juice or other flavors to it.

You can also add the paste you made to other drinks such as fruit smoothies or juices. You can add it directly to the drink or dilute it with more juice or milk first.

You can flavour to the kefir milk by adding various herbs, spices or other flavourings to it. Try experimenting to find out what you like!
